1. Who is KP and why is he in my channel?
He's the owner and operator of IBO. If he's in your channel it probably is not
a big deal. He likes to join new channels that pop up just to check them out.
You have nothing to worry about, so long as you're not serving warez, in which
case he will join your channel and permanently ban every one in it. But you
would never be so foolish.
2. Is there any kind of documentation to get me acquainted with IRC?
Yes, our guides page should get you started with IRC and
if you should so choose you can become a pretty advanced user by following those
guides and setting up your own channel to become further acquainted.
3. Can I set up my own channel, if so, how?
It is no burden to us when you create your own channel, it takes up an insignificant
amount of bandwidth and space, so feel free to start your own channel(s). To do
this, you'll join the channel you want to own and enter this command: /cs register
<#channel> <password> <Description of channel>. You would replace
the fields between the < and > signs with your own inputs. For example, when
I registered #hbo I did this: /cs register #hbo wuwho Official IRC channel of
Halo.Bungie.org. Private message KP if you have any further questions about
setting up a channel.
4. How do I add a bot to my channel?
First you need to own the channel. Once that is out of
the way you may look at the list of available bots: /bs botlist. Then you may
choose one from that list. Once you have chosen one, enter this: /bs assign
<#channel> <botname>. For example, in #hbo I did this: /bs assign #hbo
Lopez.
5. If KP says he's going to stab me in the face, does he mean it?
You can bet your ass he does.
6. Do you or does any one on this server work for Bungie?
Neither KP, any of the operators, nor Bungie.org are officially affilliated with Bungie
Studios. While we do get users from Bungie Studios on occasion, none of them
are visiting in an official capacity. They're here for the same reason you are,
to kill some time and have fun while at it.
7. Why did you leave Enfinity?
We were asked to leave Enfinity as the owner, SanchezTheLlama, chose to get out
of that type of hosting business. There was surprisingly little internet drama
associated with the decision to move and the actual move itself.
8. Are there any official rules?
Yes, when you connect to the server you see something in the server status screen
called the message of the day or "MOTD." That contains all of the official
rules and some random humor. We also have a copy of those online on the MOTD page. The copy of the MOTD here should always be current to
the one on the server, within 1 hour or less of an update.
9. Where's Louis Wu?
Louis Wu is an allegedly very busy man who does not have a lot of time to waste.
He used to kill time in #hbo back in the day, but now he rarely joins. The
instances in which he joins are the result of heavy begging on my account or
tricksy hobbitses.
10. What's the "Random News" all about?
It is a random (dur) title line much in the vein of the HBO titles that you
are probably familiar with. If you don't know what the Random News even is,
here's a picture of what I'm talking about.
They're all past topics that I found funny enough to make permanent in the
Random News.
